Gregandtash’s travel blog entry: “How do you know an elephant’s been in your fridge? There’s footprints in the margarine! How do you know you’re in Phnom Penh? An elephant walks past your hotel every morning at 6.30am! Yes, I know I’m not a morning person but I was awake on Wednesday morning early and thought I should get into the gym. So while standing around waiting for the lift I looked out the window down onto the early morning traffic in Phnom Penh. And an elephant. Samba the elephant spends most of her day residing at Wat Phnom. Each afternoon she walks along the riverfront past all the restaurants and shops to a vacant block where she grazes and spends the night. Then in the morning she walks back down to Wat Phnom. Welcome to Cambodia! On Friday week ago we moved into our house and all I can say is feel free to come visit, I’m sure we’ll squeeze you in! The place is 3 bedrooms plus study, dining, lounge, and more living space upstairs. Oh yeah, we’ve also got 3 or 4 chandeliers as well, but there’s a phrase to describe this kind of interior design here: welcome to Cambodia. The showers are bizarre and for those who are Dr Who fans they’ve been nicknamed the Tardis. It’s a great place but still going through some settling in issues.
